Ten Mile Church History

1912


Ten Mile School opened.

1914


First Sunday School class held at Ten Mile School; first Sunday School in the area.

1925


Officially affiliated with the American Sunday School Union. Reverend V.C. Snow was district superintendent.

1926


First VBS held, started by Reverend E.C. Nicely of Ustick Baptist Church.

1930


Fire at school. Sunday School moved to Columbia school, 2 miles west.

1932


Sunday School moved to Ten Mile Grange Hall at Columbia and Eagle roads

1947


Ten Mile School became part of the Kuna School District.

1950


Ten Mile School was put up for bid and the Sunday School's low bid of $945 was accepted and the school became a church.

1953


First service held in church, April 5, 1953. Dedication held on Easter Sunday.

1955


Excavation done under building to provide Sunday School classrooms. Project finished in 1957.

1958


South addition and west entry were completed in August.

1965


The Sunday School Constitution, which had been in the works for a number of years, was approved unanimously.

1966


Ten Mile became affiliated with Village Missions. John Hadley was the first full time pastor.

1968


The basement of a planned two-story building was completed with a kitchen, all purpose room, pastor's office, classrooms and lavatories. This was referred to as the annex.

1972


With the purchase of additional land a parsonage was built and occupied in March. A new well was also drilled this year.

1976


Establishment of Ten Mile trust was approved to finance construction of building.

1980


AWANA program begins to provide activities for youth of 3 years old through High school.

1981


The first service held in the present sanctuary on Easter Sunday.

1994


First full time youth and music pastor, Ben Day, became a member of Ten Mile staff.

1997


New foyer with drive up portico, bathrooms, Dale Hancock gym, downstairs classrooms and daycare office completed.

2003


Brian Antes became the full time music and children's minister.

2006


In August, Larry Miller became Pastor of Administration.

2007


Ten Mile purchased 5 acres next door to the current church property to accomodate future growth.

2008


Brian Antes departs Ten Mile to serve in outdoor minstries in Montana.

2009


Steven Slaughter became the Worship Pastor on a part-time basis.
